About

Hi there, you’ve found my blog. My name is Caleb, it’s nice to meet you. Now, let’s give you a better idea of who’s typing up all these strange entries!  So, where do we start… Well seeing as this is a riding blog, we’ll start from there.

I was never really interested or fascinated with motorcycles like a lot of my fellow riders were at a young age. I wasn’t really a motorhead to begin with. I wasn’t into cars, and definitely not bikes. I was more interested in computer games and the internet (big surprise, I’ve created a blog!). However, I had a friend who became interested in motorcycles after we graduated high school. His name was Matt. Matt Got his first bike in 2009. It was a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Matt would ride around to all of our outings and I never really noticed it much.

It wasn’t until a whole year after he’d been riding that a few of us found ourselves hanging out in an underground parking structure after visiting a PC cafe. We talked and somehow we decided it would be cool to try out his motorcycle. My friend Justin was up first. He revved too high, and dropped the clutch too fast. He lunged forwards, crushing his balls. But then he got it and rode it for about 50 yards. Then it was my turn. First things first, DON’T do what Justin just did. Easy on the throttle, easy off the clutch. Before I knew it, I was on two wheels. Then Matt taught me how to shift. Got up to second gear, neat! From that point forward, I was absolutely hooked.

A few weeks later in April 2010, my friend Justin and I signed up for the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course and attended the 3-day course. It was absolutely amazing. From the moment my two feet left the ground on Matt’s 250, I knew this was what I had to do. The class further solidified that idea. Great, we both passed the MSF course. Now what? I couldn’t wait. As soon as my certificate of completion came in, I was at the DMV the next day to take my license written test. Passed that with flying colors and the whole shebang. Next step? Get a bike. After a week of searching I found a decent deal for a Suzuki GS500 Motorcycle. Checked it out, looked good. Ran fine. Test rode it and bought it on the spot. Matt rode it back home for me from Moreno Valley. For the next day I was putting up and down the street. Then Matt wanted to ride, so I took it out on the main streets and even the freeway. This was too much fun.

Of course, all good things must come to an end. My GS500 started exhibiting some strange mechanical issues. One mechanic gave up entirely and returned my bike to me after one month. Took it to another mechanic who diagnosed the problem in one hour, and had it fixed in a few days. Neat! Time to ride again! Not so fast, they didn’t check the oil to see that there was none in the motor. Connecting rod snapped, and the bike was worthless. Time to hunt for a new bike.

Few months later, I come home with a used 2005 Suzuki GSX-R600. It was very different from my GS500, but it was awesome. Took it to the mechanic, had some major issues, but they fixed that up a month after I got the bike. Neat, now it’s good to go. Rode that bad boy for a few months until I came across my current 2007 Suzuki GSXR-600. Been riding that thing ever since!
